Vintage Cooper Company Wall Coil Thermometer 6" Made in the USA Brass Wood Works
Needs cleaning; bracket needs repaired; looks great!

Cooper started in 1885 as the Cooper Oven Thermometer Co. in the Pequabuck section of Plymouth. David G. Cooper was the founder. The company dropped “Oven” from the name in 1951.

In 1961, Floyd Wallace, great-grandson of Wallace Silversmith founder Robert Wallace of Wallingford, bought the Cooper Thermometer Co. He also purchased Croydon Thermometer Co. of Rochester, N.Y., and expanded his line from dial and cooking thermometers to glass tube thermometers.

In 1965, Wallace built a new, 40,000-square-foot plant on 8 acres on Reeds Gap Road in Middlefield and moved all production facilities to town.

In 1984, the company bought Electro-therm, which made electronic and digital thermometers. The company built a 10,000-square-foot building on Laurel Brook Road for the new division and changed its name to Cooper Instrument Corp.
